Weather calms down across Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Winter weather will hit a few areas of Alaska overnight and Tuesday. An advisory for 3 to 7 inches of snow will go into effect for Ketchikan and surrounding areas Tuesday evening. Winds will be to advisory levels in the eastern Alaska Range through Tuesday afternoon. East winds 30 mph, gusting to 50 mph. Kaktovik, along the eastern Beaufort Sea Coast has a winter weather advisory for blowing snow, as winds will gust to 40 mph. This is expiring at 9 pm. And over the Baldwin Peninsula, a winter weather advisory for blowing snow, with gusts to 45 mph.

Dry weather will affect interior Alaska .

Active weather will persist along coastal areas of southcentral. Seward and Whittier could see a mix of rain and snow. Weather is likely to remain dry in Anchorage. There is even a chance of some sunny breaks through the week.

Hot spot for Alaska was Port Heiden, with 43 degrees and the cold spot goes to Fairbanks and Eielson AFB with a temperature of 35 below zero.
