To the editor: I’m glad Sen. Lisa Murkowski is part of a growing group of Republicans calling on President Trump to maintain the clean energy tax credits passed as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. While the IRA has its flaws, a full repeal of the law would be devastating for Alaska’s energy independence — and dominance.
The IRA’s tax credits have been critical in helping Alaska homeowners and businesses save money on energy bills, create jobs, reduce energy waste, and use more of our clean energy resources to help lower emissions. In 2023, roughly one-quarter of the total electricity generated in our state came from renewable resources, and the IRA’s tax incentives are helping us build on that progress.
